Vitajte v meste Salem, vo svete čarodejníc, príšer a mutantov. Vitajte vo svete dead pop sex action/rock/metal kapely z Nemecka. Vitajte vo svete LORDS OF SALEM. Dnes budem spovedať basáka, ktorý si hovorí Marple a speváka Postela. Tak poďme na to a otvorme túto hororovú kapitolu.
Som rada, že sa podarilo konečne zorganizovať tento rozhovor a teším sa naň. Ako sa máte?

Všimla som si, že pred pár dňami ste zrušili pár koncertov. Je všetko OK?
Ale áno, teraz sme už všetci v poriadku.
Poďme skúsiť vašu kapelu predstaviť ľuďom, ktorí vás možno ešte nepoznajú alebo možno len videli nejaký váš klip.
OK. Ja som Marple – basa, Holly – gitary, Ole – bicie a Postel spieva.
To je pekné, vďaka, haha, ale skúste spomenúť aj niečo z vašej histórie, niečo o vás.
Začali sme v roku 2017. Prvotná myšlienka bola hrať a robiť hudbu, ktorá by sedela rockerom, metalistom, ale rovnako aj pre priaznivcom gothic štýlu. Našu hudbu by sme opísali ako temný rock s industriálnym vplyvom.
Čo je vašou hudobnou inšpiráciou? Možno skúste spomenúť aj nejaké kapely, aby si vás ľudia vedeli a skúsili zaradiť.
Naša inšpirácia je v novej ale aj starej hudbe. Je toho veľa, ale spomeniem kapely ako Kiss, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Mötley Crew, Iggy Pop and the Stooges a určite aj Wednesday 13.
Vo vašich textoch sú príšery a upíry… ste aj fanúšikmi hororov?
Jednoznačne, o tom niet pochýb. Máme radi ´béčkové´ horory, ´hammer´ horory a samozrejme zombie a všetko okolo toho. To je inšpirácie pre texty, ale ak sa pozrieš na naše outfity, tak aj tie sú inšpirované Wasteland.
Paráda! Práve ste vydali singel a videoklip ku skladbe I’m So Goth – Hommage Nosferatu. Nielen názov, ale aj klip mi pripomína starý horor Nosferatu z roku 1922. Bol to zámer?
Jednoznačne!
A viete, že tento starý horor sa natáčal na Oravskom hrade u nás na Slovensku? Teda aspoň niektoré scény.
Sme hororoví nadšenci a maniaci, čo si o nás myslíš, jasné, že vieme, haha.
Keď sme už pri Slovensku, hrali ste tu už?
Áno, mali sme dva koncerty spoločne s kapelou Eufory. Bolo to v roku 2019, ak si teda dobre pamätám.
Páčilo sa vám tu? Mali ste možnosť si to tu aspoň trošku aj pozrieť?
Áno, bolo u vás super, mali sme sa výborne a videli sme aj pár pamiatok.
Ako hororoví maniaci, vlastníte aj nejakú zbierku. Vieš, čo mám mysli. Hororové figúrky, alebo DVD/Blu-ray proste podobné veci.
Máme nejaké zberateľské kúsky presne ako spomínaš.
Veľmi sa mi páči váš stage počas koncertov a tiež aj vaše kostýmy. Dokonca nosíte aj masky. Musí byť ale náročné v nich vystupovať.
Masky máme len na jednu skladbu.
Tri single už máte von, kedy očakávať celý album?
Vydanie je naplánované na jar 2024.

Všetky single sú dostupné na Spotify a podobných platformách. Album sa bude celý niesť v podobnom duchu, v rovnakom štýle.
Máte už názov?
Možno by sa mohol volať Freaks. Toto je ale stále ešte len pracovný názov. Je teda možné, že ho ešte zmeníme. Nie sme si ešte celkom istí.
Rock 2023 sa skončil. Skúste ho zhodnotiť, či pre vás bol úspešný a čo všetko ste v ňom stihli?
Určite poviem, že bol hektický. Všetko okolo skladania hudby, aranžmány skladieb a proste všetko je hotové. Takže odpoveď je áno, bol úspešný.
Ešte pred Vianocami ste tiež uverejňovali tie informácie ohľadom streamovania cez Spotify. Nie som veľký fanúšik tejto platformy, pretože najmä k vám, menším kapelám, je to dosť nefér. Čo si o tom myslíš? Prečo kapely streamujú svoju tvorbu v podstate zadarmo? Na YouTube môžeš nájsť všetko priamo od kapiel, zadarmo.
Čo je správne a čo nie? Faktom je, že časy sa zmenili a hudobníci sa musia rozhodnúť, akou cestou sa vydajú. Ďalšia vec je, že zadarmo streamuješ na každej platforme. Je to dnes ťažké.
Je to tak, všetko sa zmenilo, ale pracujete ťažko, makáte na sebe, vieš, čo tým chcem povedať.
To je pravda, mnoho ľudí nemá poňatia čo to obnáša udržať kapelu aktívnu. A to platí aj pre malé a nie známe kapely. Čas, peniaze za nahrávanie, natáčanie klipov, výroba merču, organizácia koncertov… To všetko sú požierače času a peňazí.
O tom hovorím. Ako ste strávili Vianoce?
S rodinami, priateľmi, ako obvykle. Trošku pokoja, nabitie bateriek pre nový rok, haha.
Máte nejaké novoročné predsavzatia?
Vypustiť nový album a dúfame, že budeme hrať čo najviac koncertov a festivalov.

A few days ago, you had to cancel some shows. What happened? I hope you all guys are ok.
Yes we are now all OK.
Introduce the band a bit for those in Slovakia who don´t know you that much.
OK, there is Marple – bass guitars, Holly – guitars, Ole – drums and Postel doing the vocals.
Thanks. Sure but I mean reveal a bit of your story.
We started in 2017, the idea was to do music that fits for rock and metal guys and as well for the gothic people. We describe our music as dark rock with industrial influences.
What about your music inspiration?
Old and new inspirations, like Kiss, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Mötley Crew, Iggy Pop and the Stooges and Wednesday 13.
And themes and lyrics-wise? Vampires, monsters…? Are you also a fan of horror movies?
Yes we definitely are. We like old B-movies stuff, Hammer Horror, Zombies and a lot of other stuff. Basically, if you look at our outfits we are Wasteland based as well.
Cool! You have just released a new song – I’m So Goth – Hommage Nosferatu. It reminds me of the film from 1922 Nosferatu.. Was it your goal?
Absolutely, it was.
Did you know this old horror film was filmed in Slovakia, Orava Castle, at least the castle scenes.
Yes, we do as horror geeks, haha.
Have you ever performed or visited Slovakia?
Yes, we had 2 shows together with Eufory from Slovakia in 2019.
Do you like our country? Did you have a chance to see it a bit?
Yes, we had a great time there, we were able to do some sight seeing.
And as a horror geek, do you own a huge collection of horror characters and DVDs and stuff like that?
We got some collectibles like DVDs and action figures.
I like the way you built up your stage and also your kind of costumes. Some of you even wear masks? It must be difficult to perform wearing it?
The masks are only for one song.
When will you release the new album? There are 3 singles so far.
It ‚s scheduled for spring 2024.
Can you reveal more details about it?
All the singles that were released via Spotify and so forth will be the part of the album and what is not released by now will have the same style and attitude of course.
And the title of the album?
Maybe Freaks but that’s the working title by now, maybe we ‚ll change that, we‘ re not quite sure.
2023 has just ended. Summarise it, please. Was it a successful year for you?
What we can say is, it was busy. But the complete writing and arrangements of the songs are done, so the answer is, yesss.
You have also posted the info about your Spotify members, let’s call it this way. I am not the biggest fan of this streaming platform, the conditions for you, especially smaller bands are not fair. I have also noticed some criticism over it. What´s your opinion? Why do all the bands share and stream their albums basically for free? You can find it all officially streamed on YouTube without having to pay a single cent.
What is right or wrong? The fact is that times have changed and as a band you have to decide what way you will go. The other thing is that you can stream the songs on every platform for free. It ‚s difficult these days.
Makes sense, everything’s changed but you work hard to record new music, you know.
That ‚s true, many people have no idea what it takes to make a band work. Even as a small or not known band. The time, the money for recording, making videos, creating Merch and organizing shows, consumes a lot of time and money…
Exactly. How did you celebrate Christmas?
We celebrated it with family and friends, the usual things…calm down and generate new strength for the upcoming year, haha.
What about the new year’s resolutions? Do you have any?
Throw out the new album and hopefully play as many shows and festivals as possible.
