Hazzerd hraje tradiční thrash, který je stále aktuální. Čtvřice muzikantů tak to je vesměs klasika thrash metalových skupin. Hazzerd tvoří Dylan Westendorp – zpěv, bicí,,Toryin Schadlich – kytara,,Nick Schwartz – kytara,,David Sprague – baskytara. Ke komu skupinu přirovnat je trochu obtížnější, to dáme v otázce pro skupinu. Řekl bych že je zde kus Testament, kus Megadeath a nedílnou část Canucks. Pojďme si je rozebrat.
Alan – Ahoj bando, od kdy existujete? Odkud přesně pocházíte? A za sebou máte tedy tři alba?
David Sprague – Kapela vznikla v roce 2013 v Calgary, AB. Náš nejnovější člen Nick Schwartz žije 3 hodiny na sever v Edmontonu. A ano, právě jsme vydali naše třetí plnohodnotné album!
Alan – Zpívat a hrát na bicí není až tak obvyklé, jak to zvládáte?
David Sprague – Dylan je absolutní bestie za kitem, stejně jako za mikrofonem. Dát ty dva dohromady není snadný úkol s naším hudebním kalibrem, ale on to dokáže a díky tomu vynikáme mezi ostatními kapelami.
Alan – Kdo zakládal kapelu? Jak jste se dali dohromady? A hráli jste, nebo hrajete ještě v jiných skupinách?
David Sprague – Kapelu založil Dylan a náš původní kytarista Brendan Malycky, kteří se seznámili prostřednictvím online inzerátu. Začali spolu jamovat, pokrývali melodie od Metallicy, Megadeth, Anthrax a Iron Maiden, než složili vlastní hudbu, vyšlo první EP ‚Victimize the Innocent‘.
Naše současná sestava, Nick hraje ve dvou dalších kapelách, ‚Tymo‘ a ‚Kill Witch‘. Toryin byl hlavním kytaristou v ‚Traveler‘, než si nedávno dali neurčitou pauzu. Dave a Toryin jsou také součástí eponymně pojmenované kapely ‚Schadlich‘.
Alan – V úvodu píši že v Čechách a na Slovensku nejste až tak známá banda, což není uplně pravda. Alba se prodávají i v shopech v těchto dvou zemí. Tak jak to je s Hazzerd? Až tak neznámí zde nejste.
David Sprague – Naše vydavatelství M-Theory nám poskytlo dobrý dosah v různých zemích a umožnilo našim deskám aby je slyšeli různí fanoušci po celém světě.
Alan – Poslední album The 3rd Dimension vyšlo na počátku roku 2025 a to LP, CD, MC jak si stojíte s prodejností?
David Sprague – Zatím je to dobré! Album se již vyprodalo a plánuje se vydat další plus dotisky.
Alan – Kde jste nahrávali? Kde dělali master? Kdo vydával album? Pomáhal vám někdo se skladbama? A měli jste nějaké hosty?
David Sprague – Pro tuto desku jsme se vrátili k našim dobrým přátelům v MCC Recording Studio, abychom zde nahráli bicí. Poté jsme nahráli basu, kytary a zpěv v Toryinově domácím studiu. Album smíchal Cody Anstey v Clarity Studios, masteroval Johnny Gasparic v MCC a vydalo M-Theory Audio. Všechny písně produkovala kapela a Nick se poprvé objevil v kapele s hostujícím sólem v písni ‚Parasitic‘. Také jsme nechali Duncana McCartneyho hrát na klavír v písni „A Fell Omen“.
Alan – Můžeš nám přiblížit jednotlivé skladby i instrumentální o čem jsou? Ve zkratce?
Interdimension – Klasika, která otevírá desku.
Scars – Válčící frakce mezi WLF vs Seraphites ve videohře The Last of Us Part II. Nebo jak si říkají ve hře. The Wolfs & The Scars.
Unto Ashes – Thanos a jeho egoistické myšlení v nekonečném mudrování MCU.

Alan – Vaše album mám a je naprosto fantastické. I když vy asi víte že pro mě thrash je top z metalu. Zde je otázka – máte někoho (agenturu) budete letos 2025 hrát v Evropě? Rád bych vás zde viděl.
David Sprague – V tuto chvíli nemáme rezervačního agenta, ale stále hledáme správnou příležitost hrát v Evropě. Letos se to pravděpodobně nestane, možná příští rok!
Alan – Rozhovory si budou číst hlavně Češi a Slováci. Znáte nějaké skupiny z těchto dvou regionů? Thrash metalové kapely – příkladně? Debustrol, Kriptor?
David Sprague – Thrashové kapely z česko/slovenského regionu moc neznáme, některé z nich si budeme muset vyhledat.
Alan – Díky za rozhovor, společně ještě nekončíme, určitě uděláme ještě rozhovor do rádia. Nějaký vzkaz pro naše čtenáře?

Hazzerd plays traditional thrash, which is still relevant. The four musicians are all classics of thrash metal bands. Hazzerd comprises Dylan Westendorp – on vocals, and drums, Toryin Schadlich – on guitar, Nick Schwartz – on guitar, David Sprague – on bass. It’s a bit more difficult to compare the band, so we’ll put that in the question for the band. I would say that there is a bit of Testament, a bit of Megadeath, and an integral part of Canucks. Let’s break them down.
Alan – Hi guys, how long have you been around? Where exactly do you come from? And you have three albums under your belt?
David Sprague – The band was formed in 2013 in Calgary, AB. Our newest member Nick Schwartz lives 3 hours north in Edmonton. And yes, we just released our third full length album!
Alan – Singing and playing drums is not that common, how do you manage it?
David Sprague – Dylan is an absolute beast behind the kit, as well as the mic. Putting the two together is no easy task with our caliber of music but he pulls it off and it makes us stand out amongst other bands for sure.
Alan – Who founded the band? How did you get together? And did you play, or do you still play in other bands?
David Sprague – The band was founded by Dylan and our original guitarist Brendan Malycky, who met through an online classifieds ad. They began jamming together, covering tunes from Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Iron Maiden before writing songs of their own which would shape into what you hear on the ‘Victimize the Innocent’ EP.
As our current lineup goes, Nick plays in two other bands, ‘Tymo’ & ‘Kill Witch’. Toryin was the lead guitarist in ‘Traveler’ before they recently went on an indefinite hiatus. Dave and Toryin are also part of the eponymously named band ‘Schadlich’.
Alan – In the introduction, I wrote that you are not a very well-known band in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which is not entirely true. Albums are also sold in shops in these two countries. So how is it with Hazzerd? You are not that unknown here.
David Sprague – Our label M-Theory has given us a good reach in various countries, allowing our records to be seen and heard by all kinds of new fans.
Alan – The last album The 3rd Dimension was released in early 2025 as LP, CD, MC, how are you doing with sales?
David Sprague – So far, so good! The album has sold out in a couple different markets already, and there are plans to press more.
Alan – Where did you record? Where did you master? Who released the album? Did anyone help you with the songs? And did you have any guests?
David Sprague – For this record, we went back to our good friends at MCC Recording Studio to track the drums. We then recorded Bass, guitars, and vocals at Toryin’s home studio. The album was mixed by Cody Anstey at Clarity Studios, mastered by Johnny Gasparic back at MCC, and released by M-Theory Audio. All songs were produced by the band, and Nick made his first appearance in the band with a guest solo on the song ‘Parasitic’. We also had Duncan McCartney perform some piano on the song “A Fell Omen”.

Alan – I have your album and it is absolutely fantastic. Although you probably know that for me thrash is the top of metal. Here is a question – do you have someone (agency) to play in Europe this year 2025? I would like to see you here.
David Sprague – At this moment, we do not have a booking agent but are still seeking the right oppurtunity to play in Europe. Not likely to happen this year, but perhaps next year!
Alan – The interviews will be read mainly by Czechs and Slovaks. Do you know any bands from these two regions? Thrash metal exemplars? Debustrol, Kriptor?
David Sprague – We are not very familiar with Thrash bands from the Czech/Slovak region, but we will have to look some of them up.
